Banker Trojans Becoming More Sophisticated

GLENDALE, CA -- The use by hackers of "trojan" spyware in attempting to steal user's financial passwords has increased, according to a report by PandaLabs.

53.6% of new malware samples that appeared in 2006 were trojan type hacks.  These illegal programs are designed to record a user's username and password as they log in to their financial institution account.

"The rapid evolution of bank-related trojans is largely due to the use of additional online security measures by banks, such as the virtual keyboards now used to prevent traditional keyloggers recording users' keystrokes," the report concluded.
